We help people who have been diagnosed with a rare cancer
The Sophie Fitzpatrick Charitable Foundation for Rare Cancers is here to support people who have been diagnosed with a rare cancer, especially with cancer of the appendix or goblet cell carcinoma, like Sophie. This cancer is so rare that the number of cases in the UK are undocumented and at the moment only 1,000 people in the USA are diagnosed with it out of a population of 341 million people So there is little support and few resources to help – our aim is to change this.

” When my baby received his diagnosis and I had to give up work to care for him, it was an incredibly frightening and uncertain time. We suddenly found ourselves travelling hundreds of miles for specialist care and then living away from home for months so he could receive the treatment he needed.
During this difficult period, your charity’s support with sustenance and travel costs made a huge difference to us. Knowing that we did not have to worry so much about buying food and drinks, or the cost of journeys to and from hospital during those long stays away from home, lifted a significant burden and allowed me to focus fully on caring for my son.“
